The "Let’s Go to F**king Hawaii" Tropical Green Smoothie!

Since most of the north east is currently experience one last blast of winter at the beginning of spring, and I have a fridge full of seasonally-inappropriate tropical fruits, I thought I would create a little smoothie in honour of.

If the weather sucks, just drink something to brighten your day, right?  For full it’s-winter-and-I’m-sick-of-it-let’s-go-somewhere-warm effect, you’ll want to listen to “Hawaii” by Art Bergmann’s old punk band the Young Canadians while you drink this.

Let’s Go to F**king Hawaii Tropical Green Smoothie

1 ripe banana, fresh or frozen
1 orange, peel cut off & hacked into chunks
1/2 cup frozen mango
1/2 cup cilantro
1 cup baby spinach, arugula, kale, or leafy green of choice
2 tbsp coconut butter
1.5-2 cups water
optional: 2-3 tbsp vegan protein powder of choice

Combine all ingredients in blender until smooth.  Put a tiny umbrella in it and pretend you’re somewhere warm and fancy.  Don’t look out any windows while you do this, unless you really are somewhere warm and fancy.

  1. i orange…hacked into chunks…LOL should I be using my coconut hacking machete for this?

…packing my tropical shirts & snorkeling mask (I wish!)

  2. We're totally on the same wavelength these last two days. I'm all about tropical green smoothies and pretending I'm somewhere warm. The cilantro is an interesting addition!

  3. cilantro is one of my fave greens in smoothies! it's so fresh tasting…provided you like cilantro, of course 😉 the arugula was a bit odd, only about the second time I've put that one in, funny little aftertaste, but I love a variety of greens so oh well!
