I got a memo from future-Ainslie just now, and it said if I go to bed, like now, I can make my favourite Peanut Butter & Jelly Smoothie for breakfast.
Besides being a disturbing indication of my incredibly insanity, it’s also a crazy delicious smoothie that I can’t wait to pour down my throat in the morning. A while ago I blogged about The Secret to a Successful Breakfast, and this crazy delicious PB&J smoothie definitely falls into the sucessful category. Raw fruits or vegetables? Check! Complex carbs? Check! Tons o’ fiber? Check! Healthy fats? Check! Tons o’ plant-based protein? Check! Hydrating water? Check! Looks like we got a winner!
I mentioned this on Facebook last week, but it’s been a good few years since I’ve bought peanut butter. I used to pretty much live off the stuff, to the point where I got kinda tired of it and switched to other nut butters like almond, cashew & coconut. But, I’d been craving it again and finally caved last week and hoooooo boy, is this ever turning my crank right now. I’ve been making up new PB recipes like you wouldn’t believe, so if you’re a fan, I’ve got a few more ideas coming up soon! Other than the obvious chocolate connection, this smoothie became my favourite way to eat PB near the end of my last love affair with the stuff. Something about the frozen cherries really make it taste like a liquid PB&J sammich.
Future Smoothie PB&J Smoothie
1 ripe banana
1 cup frozen cherries
2 tbsp organic peanut butter
1.5-2 cups water or almond milk (depending on desired thickness and/or speed of blender)
1 tbsp hemp seeds
|to become the “future smoothie”|
Combine all ingredients in blender until smooth. Drink ‘er up!
